Meals on Wheels

Walcha Council Community Care provide a Meals on Wheels home delivery service to the residents of Walcha.

The services if for people who are frail aged or people with disabilities and their carers. Some people receive the service temporarily while others are on a more permanent basis which allows them to remain living in their own homes.

Clients must be assessed before receiving the Meals on Wheels service. The service is not means tested. The client pays for the meal package that they order. Payments will be collected by Council Staff every Wednesday OR by accounts payable at the Council.

We cater for all special needs such as diabetics, low fat, salt free, etc. Referrals can be made by anyone. Meals are prepared and cooked at the Riverview Hostel. The meals are then picked up from the kitchen at 12 noon, by our volunteers, and delivered to our clients. Volunteers are always required to continue this vital service for the people in our community.
