About Walcha

Walcha offers new residents the opportunity to enjoy a friendly country lifestyle, whilst still having access to a range of services including medical, education and shopping. Walcha is located half way between Sydney and Brisbane and is a great inland alternative route to the Pacific Highway if you travel via Thunderbolts Way through Gloucester from Sydney, it is only 420km, and 523km via Tamworth and on the New England Highway. 

Message from Mayor

Regional Meetings are to be held on Monday 19 & Wednesday 21 May 2025. The main aim of these meetings is to meet with the community in their own environment, to touch base, update the community on Council business, glean feedback from the community on proposed operations and to give the community an opportunity to talk directly to the Executive Staff and Councillors. We look forward to seeing you at the Regional Meetings.

First Elected to Council on 04 December 2021.

First Elected to Council on 10 September 2016.

Elected as Mayor on 28 September 2016, re-elected unopposed on
22 December 2021 and re-elected unopposed on 9 October 2024.
